SASUSU Radio inviterer til radioprogram Verdens ende #4 med Baheerathy Kumarendiran, Illakiya Mariya Simon og Yuhashinee Shankar.
I denne utgaven av radioprogrammet Verdens ende går vi inn i 3 ulike tamilske kulturelle praksiser i Norge, som setter lys på hvordan ulike sosiale og individuelle praksiser kan bidra til å skape intergenerasjonelle samtaler om tamilsk kultur- og historieforståelse.
I dialog med initiativtakeren og grunnleggeren av Diaspora Tamil Archives (DTA), Baheerathy Kumarendiran, ser vi på hvordan et uavhengig samfunnsarkiv kan fungere som et essensielt verktøy for å sikre tamilsk kultur, historie og identitet. Hva er et samfunns-arkiv og hvordan opererer Kumarendiran og DTA når det kommer till arkiveringsstrategier og formidling.
Ilakkiya Mariya Simon er visuell antropologistudent ved Universitetet i Tromsø, hvor hennes pågående arbeid og tidligere feltarbeid på Sri Lanka har vært å se tilbake på hennes familie og slektningers forhold til jord. Gjennom hennes blikk får vi et nærmere syn på motivasjonen til gå tilbake til røttene, jorda og hennes familiehistorie i det som skal bli hennes avgangsfilmprosjekt.
Som en del av filmen Lille Eelam på verdens ende er danseren Yuhashinee Shankar tilstede for å holde en performance i karnatisk dans, og gjennom dansen gi et innblikk i dravidisk mytologi og kroppslig historiefortelling. I tillegg til performance vil Shankar ta del i radioprogrammet ved å introdusere hennes oppgaver og utfordringer som leder for Arena For Unge Hinduer i Norge (AFUH).
Tamilske retter fra matworkshop med Godfrey Manoharen serveres også til publikum før live radio.

SASUSU Radio invites you to the fourth The End of the World radio program, featuring Baheerathy Kumarendiran, Illakiya Mariya Simon and Yuhashinee Shankar.
In this edition of the radio program The End of the World, we introduce three different Tamil cultural practices in Norway, and explores how different social and individual practices may contribute to intergenerational dialogue around Tamil culture and history. Speaking with the founder of Diaspora Tamil Archive, Baheerathy Kumarendiran, we look at how an independent community archive can function as an essential to secure Tamil culture, identity and survival. What is a community archive? And how does Kumarendiran and Diaspora Tamil Archive work with strategies of archivation and dissemination?
Illakiya Mariya Simon is a student of visual anthropology at the University of Tromsø, whose ongoing field work in Sri Lanka is concerned with her family’s relation to the soil. Through her perspective we look at what motivates people to return to their roots, the soil and her own family history, all of which are subjects of her graduation project.
Yuhashinee Shankar contributes as a dancer to the film Little Eelam at the End of the World, and through a performance of classic Carnatic dance she will provide us with a window into Dravidian mythology and embodied storytelling. In addition to her performance, Yuhashinee will join us in the studio to talk about her work for the Arena for Unge Hinduer i Norge (Arena for Young Hindus in Norway, AFUH)
Tamil food dishes from food workshop with Godfrey Monaharan will be served to the audience prior to the live radio show.
